‘The Chosen One’ and My Views

It has been almost a month I haven’t written anything in my blog. I really don’t know why I am in such a block. Anyway, I am sitting here today, determined to write. And so what is it that brought me here typing on my keyboards for something to put up in this long-forgotten blog? Well, it’s a song that really touched me. And this time I felt it’s time I share my feelings with others.

The typical lyrics of the everyday songs we hear do not attract me. “I love you, You love me”…. “I miss you.. you miss me” …. “You have gone… Don’t go away”… these are the most common themes of most of the songs I have listened in my life, or, I would dare say, most of the songs that you would hear in your every day life . Songs for the ‘Broken or sad hearts’, songs for the ‘just-fallen-in-love hearts’ or songs for the ‘happily-ever-after hearts’ are all you would find being played everywhere . Other than patriotic songs, the lyrical part doesn’t touch me that much for these typical songs. But I felt always, the lyrics of a song can ride us to some destination, toward somewhere where the singer wished to drive. It can be the feelings of the singer’s heart or whatever.

I was trying to share a specific song that really fascinated me. Not only the lyric, but also the video. The scenes of the video are presentation of behaving at different aspects — how to behave with people and even in each individual’s life. Though I was born in a Muslim family, and was brought up in a somewhat Islamic environment, I still had a lot to discover the sweet teachings of this music video. The Man whom we know and believe as our Idol was really the Best of Mankind. He was human like us, He had sorrows, sufferings, loves, affections and His life teaches us the purest behaviors of life. Not considering any religion, color, caste, creed but for the humanity….

I found a note on Youtube regarding the song, written by the Composers. I am sharing it:

This song and the video are inspired by Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. Maher Zain and awakening records felt they had to respond to the recent attacks on Prophet Muhammad through cartoons and facebook. The result is the music video. It’s a small attempt at portraying the true character.

This singer is Maher Zain, who was born in Lebanon and grew up in Sweden. He graduated in Aeronautical Engineering but as he was fascinated in music from childhood, he devoted in hip-hop, rap songs in USA. Later he was ‘awakened’ about the lyrical concepts (just like I felt) and changed his track of song [I knew this from an interview of him]. This song is taken from his first album.

Lyric: The Chosen One by Maher Zain

In a time of darkness and greed
It is your light that we need
You came to teach us how to live
Muhammad Ya Rasool Allah

You were so caring and kind
Your soul was full of light
You are the best of mankind
Muhammad Khaira Khalqillah
Sallu ‘ala Rasulillah, Habib Al Mustafa
Peace be upon The Messenger
The Chosen One

From luxury you turned away
And all night you would pray
Truthful in every word you say
Muhammad Ya Rasul Allah

Your face was brighter than the sun
Your beauty equaled by none
You are Allah’s Chosen One
Muhammad Khaira Khalqillah
Sallu ‘ala Rasulillah, Habib Al Mustafa
Peace be upon The Messenger
The Chosen One

I will try to follow your way
And do my best to live my life
As you taught me
I pray to be close to you

On that day and see you smile
When you see me
Sallu ‘ala Rasulillah, Habibil Mustafa
Peace be upon The Messenger
The Chosen One

Sallu ‘ala Rasulillah, Habibi Mustafa
Peace be upon The Messenger
The Chosen One

  1. Welcome back to your own blog. Although now it’s been boring to repeatedly welcome you back on board. 😕 Good that I don’t usually suffer from blogger’s block. 😀

  2. The song is really a nice one ever I have heard. Specially his presentation was outstanding. I already downloaded his full album “Thank you Allah”. And I am still hearing while commenting here in your blog. Thanks for sharing.
